What is Liberalism in Global Politics?
This video looks at the Global Politics and International Relations theory of Liberalism, advanced by philosophers like Immanuel Kant as early as the 18th century, with his essay Perpetual Peace. Liberalism believes that while states are still the most important actors in Global Politics, interdependence of states, and the influence of IGOs, TNCs, and NGOs is key in promoting a stable and prosperous world. Liberal theory also encourages the growth of democracy around the world, and once the world fully embraces liberal democracy, we might see, as Francis Fukuyama puts it, the "end of history."
