Mid/Side Stereo Mic Technique (why does it lean to one side?!?)
In this episode, I'll take a look at how to set up a Mid/Side microphone array. This is a stereo miking technique that can sound great in some circumstances. It requires two microphones, one of which is a figure-8 pattern, and the other is a directional pattern like a cardioid.
Since I'm brand new to this technique, I'll share a problem that I had with it leaning to one side of the stereo field, and what I did to solve that problem.
