Four years later Nihan is a school teacher and the last scene leaves with Nihan having dinner with family and friends imagining that Kemal is with them.
Eventually, Kemal dies in a mine that the Emir had set up. They both break a mine but the Anti-Bomb team is only able to deactivate the Emir mine. Kemal tells everyone to leave while holding the Emir by the arm.
Nihan reads the letter that Kemal wrote and she tells her not to be sad but to continue living for their daughter.
He tells Nihan that he loves her and reads the letter he last wrote about her. Kemal raises his leg and the explosion kills him and the Emir.
