Planting Sweet Potato Slips in Holes – Traditional Method 🍠🧑‍🌾

Watch a farmer use a hand trowel or small spade to dig individual holes in a prepared bed. He inserts a sweet potato slip (a rooted vine cutting) into each hole, then pushes soil around the stem, leaving the top two leaves exposed. Finally, he waters each plant to eliminate air pockets. No horizontal trench – just single planting holes.

Let’s Talk Hole Planting 🗣️
How deep should the hole be – 3 inches or 4? Do you add fertilizer or compost into each hole first? Why leave leaves above ground – to prevent rot? How far apart do you space the holes – 12 inches or 18? Do you water immediately or wait for evening to avoid sun scald? Share your sweet potato planting techniques, soil prep tips, or harvest memories in the comments below!
