My Honest SNOO BASSINET Review | And how we got our baby to sleep through the night by 7 weeks

For those of you who don’t know what it is, the Snoo is a smart bassinet and the priciest bassinet on the market (https://www.happiestbaby.com/products/snoo-smart-bassinet).

I, like you probably are, was apprehensive about spending $1,295 on a bassinet that the baby will only sleep in for a few months.

(BTW – the Snoo is now available to rent for about $118/month - https://www.happiestbaby.com/products/snoo-rental).

My husband fortunately did a lot of research and we decided we wanted to get it (we value our sleep).

We got it and used it with our son Zachary from the day he came home from the hospital.

When you talk to people who have kids or babies, a lot of people complain the most about the sleepless nights.

I’ve personally had times in my life where I’ve suffered from terminal insomnia, so I know what it’s like to not get adequate sleep.

And when I was pregnant with my baby boy I definitely wasn’t looking forward to those sleepless nights.

I’m honestly not 100% sure whether it’s the Snoo or my son’s temperament, or the fact that he’s been sleeping in it since he came home from the hospital, but it’s worked really well for us.

When your baby’s a newborn, of course you do have to get up every 3 hours or so to feed until he or she gets back to his birth weight, but we found that for the most part, the Snoo would just rock him back to sleep (letting us sleep too).

Once our baby was past his birth weight, we let him sleep as long as possible before he cried out to get fed again.

By the time he was about 7 weeks old, he was sleeping through the night (and at that point was just shy of 10 pounds).

I have to admit that it does make things easier for us.

Right now when it’s time for bed, I put him in his Snoo, give him his binkie, and walk out.

If he gets a little restless, the Snoo senses it and picks up the pace when rocking him which is usually enough to get him to fall asleep.

After my maternity leave finished, due to Covid we’ve been working from home.

These days he usually sleeps 13-14 hours in the evening with his dream feed (nighttime feed) at 9:30pm and first morning feed at 7am.

I’ll bring him down and either keep him in his bouncer or swing next to me or physically wear him while I’m working.

When it’s time for his mid-afternoon nap I’ll bring him up and put him in his sleep sack and Snoo.

And if he wakes up during his nap, I’ll sometimes just log into the app and raise the level on it to rock him a bit and it works.

Overall, our baby boy has loved his Snoo and my husband and I have also loved it and the peace of mind we’ve had.

Update May 2020: We are transitioning our baby boy (almost 4 months) into his crib as he’s getting large for the Snoo. We still use the Snoo at night but are currently using it in weaning mode (when it doesn’t move – it just makes the white noise) while using his crib for his daytime and early evening sleep.
