How to Bring Your Diverse Voice to the Workplace | Kim Meninger | TEDxBabsonCollege
As workplaces make slow progress on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, many professionals who feel different from the majority culture continue to struggle with impostor syndrome and self-doubt. This self-doubt often leads us to compare ourselves to others and feel as though we don’t measure up, which can cause us to avoid speaking up, sharing our ideas or challenging the status quo.
This talk explores a mindset shift that encourages us to embrace our differences, rather than strive to conform. By focusing less on others’ expertise and more on our own, we have the power to overcome impostor syndrome and maximize our impact at work. At a time when the world is changing at a rapid pace, diverse voices are more important than ever. Shifting our attention to what makes us unique will benefit not just ourselves, but also those around us.
As a women’s leadership coach and consultant,
Kim has coached hundreds of clients whose primary focus is on building confidence and managing self-doubt to accelerate their career paths. Kim has spoken to hundreds of audiences on topics including impostor syndrome, authentic self-promotion, and building influence. She is passionate about empowering women and others who have been traditionally disenfranchised. Kim hosts The Impostor Syndrome Files podcast, which aims to de-stigmatize confidence issues and provide a platform for successful professionals to share their journeys with impostor syndrome. The podcast has over 50 episodes and continues to grow. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
