MUS425 - Aliens

Produced for MUS425, Experimental Synthesis, and Sound Design. Students were given a project to create a story about an alien race, and how they would interpret and produce music for their own enjoyment.

My 'alien' story involved a race of aliens who create music in the form of light pulses, attributed to a certain frequency, which only creates satisfaction when all pulses of light and tone flash in synchronicity (around the 0:32 second mark).

The sound was created in Ableton's Operator. The video was created from a video of a single Christmas light, out of focus bokeh, then isolated, and synced in Adobe Premiere. Each light pulse flashes at a different rate, offset from the other, until they match up at 0:32.
