JOE LIGON TRIBUTE-MIGHTY CLOUDS OF JOY-WRITE STUFF TV
Tribute to Joe Ligon, the founder, and long-time leader singer of the iconic Gospel group, "The Mighty Clouds of Joy." Ligon died on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the age of 80.
Ligon started the Mighty Clouds back in the mid 1950's with 3 friends from his Los Angeles neighborhood. The Clouds are considered pioneers in the contemporary Gospel music genre.
The group won 3 Grammy awards, and had a couple of crossover, R&B hits in the mid 70's. The Mighty Clouds were the 1st gospel act to appear on the popular TV dance show, 'Soul Train.'
