Did Levy Punk Omar? The Wire
#shorts #thewire
Perhaps the most famous scene in The Wire is in the courthouse when Omar stuns the court and sleazy lawyer Maurice Levy by suggesting they are not too different, that they are both part of the same game – only he has the shotgun, and Levy the briefcase. Levy has a look of utter disbelief – he is completely taken aback by Omar’s remark and has no answer, given he’s not used to being challenged in such a way on his home turf.
However, I think there is a valid alternative interpretation of this scene – perhaps Levy is intentionally overacting. If he didn’t react, the jury might consider Omar’s comments valid and it would undermine Levy, so he plays up mock shock for the jury, as if he’s never heard such slander directed to him before as an upstanding member of society.
