One of the rarest gems on Earth - VENICE, ITALY. Founded in 421 (whew), built in a swamp and still thriving today, Venice is a modern marvel and engineering feat. It's steeped in so much history and culture and yet is under much danger from rising global temperatures and rising sea levels. I'm SO BLESSED to have witnessed this magnificent city and chat with some locals.

WHO, WHAT, WHERE:

Flew into MARCO POLO - There's public and private water taxis always avialble. Public was a few euro one way, Private is MUCH MORE expensive. For example, my $22 water taxi to the airport would be $125 private - in Euro not $ USD.

Hotel - IHG Hyatt Centric Murano
($149 + $22 for water taxi from airport)
Local Transportation - PUBLIC and WALKING (it does cost per trip or you can get a bus pass but water taxi version)
