Welcome back everyone!!

Huge apologies for going off the radar these past 8 months or so — Sean’s mum moved in with us so we made her an efficiency apartment or « bedsit » off of our kitchen, and we’ve been busy getting her residency and medical paperwork in order. We’re so happy that it has all worked out and that she is now where she should be, with family!

This video is about all of the various treasures we’ve found in our walls— one of them is worth more than the price of our home!!! Another is a heartrending find, and yet another is a rare historical item that we hope will end up in a medieval parish church nearby.

The last treasure keeps witches away…it was added to our home in the late medieval/ early modern period when evil spirits and witches were still feared…so we’re good to go on that front! Phew.

In this video, like most of our videos, we share our life in general, as well as our renovation process. The footage in this video leaves off in May 2021, but in the next couple of videos we’ll bring you guys up to the current day!
What you can expect in this video:

A heavy duty reno project that even local professional craftsman wouldn’t touch…it was thought to be impossible…so we took it on ourselves after a year of research and deliberation…we visit a medieval abbey to see local sculpted limestone and draw inspiration from it…Sean plays the piano and compares the compositions of Bach to the structural integrity of these old French homes…we bring you on a walk around our adorable village to the farmers’ market, show you the exterior of our home and we even find an old sign in the attic that reads »depart pour la lune! » — which means, « departure for the moon! » We had no idea our home was a portal to the moon…so we couldn’t resist creating a little animation of our house as a rocket ship with the two of us leaning out the window (as one does on a rocket ship).

We hope you enjoy this video— a huge THANK YOU to you all for leaving us such gorgeous and heartfelt messages. Seriously, you make it worth all the hard work to get these videos out there. My personal journal is filled with your comments that I’ve printed out because I’m a sentimental fool.

If you have any suggestions for future videos, please let us know! Our next video will be all about renovating our dangerous old stairs with reclaimed wood (from old pieces of furniture), the parquetry floor going down in the living room (Sean cut the pieces by hand!) and Sean applying bleach and henna to my hair in an attempt at balyage…and it came out great!! He did it in his work clothes, using a screw pocket as a cute holster for the bottle of bleach.

We’re so excited to become monetized here on YouTube…we just need about 350 more subscribers…and then we’ll be able to rationalize making more of these videos because videos will earn us renovation money! So if you like what you see, please subscribe and sneak onto the laptops of all of your friends and relations and subscribe them too.

We’ve been asked to do a Q&A video as well — if you guys have questions for us, please leave them in a comment.

We’re so excited to become a regular presence here!
