Firefighting operations at Navotas landfill enter 18th day

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon, DENR Acting Secretary Mitch Cuna, Mayor John Rey Tiangco, and experts from Japan conducted an inspection at the burning Navotas Sanitary Landfill on Tuesday, April 28.

This is now the 18th day of operations at the 44-hectare landfill, where nearly 90% of the area is affected by fire. According to Dizon, nearly half of the fire has already been extinguished with the help of more than 50 pieces of heavy equipment currently deployed to the area.
