Remain calm. Trust the broadcast. Do not question the smiling siren.

Mad Mick hijacks a cheerful 1950s government information film and scratches it into a paranoid doo-wop rebellion.

Sweet ooh-wah harmonies, upright bass, honky-tonk piano, tenor sax and brushed drums collide with civil-defence announcements, mushroom-cloud optimism, vinyl backspins, needle drags, broken broadcasts and government-approved bullshit.

The message starts politely:

Remain calm, citizen. The government’s your friend.

Then the record begins to malfunction.

Missing kicks.
Late bass.
Displaced snares.
False starts.
Broadcast stutters.
Vacuum silence.
And one increasingly disobedient Australian voice stepping out of line.

This is 1950s scratch-doo-wop propaganda satire, catchy enough to dance to, cooked enough to question everything.
