In today’s show, Saurabh Dwivedi talks about the GST council meeting and its outcome. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told states during the GST council meet on Thursday that GST shortfall is only for the current fiscal. States are given two options by the Union finance ministry. Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Revenue Secretary said GST shortfall in FY21 at Rs 2.35 lakh crore of which only 97,000 crore due to implementation of GST while the rest is due to the Covid-19 pandemic. States have been given two options either to borrow 97000 or to borrow who 2.35 lakh crore. States have asked for detailed note and after that, they will respond in 7 working days. A GST council meeting will again take place to discuss the options. In the show, Saurabh Dwivedi explains what is GST compensation, states asking for and why the dispute has been growing.
