I bent my brand new log splitter. How did this happen?

I somehow managed to bend the 4-way splitter wedge on my new log splitter. I originally thought it was on a knot in a piece of hard Maple. But now I wonder if it was started before that and I just made it worse over time. In this video I show the bend and how I think it happened, and talk about fixes. As an update, Split-Fire responded right away and are sending a new 4-way wedge as a warranty replacement. They are an excellent company!

We live in Northwestern PA and have around 70 Acres of Land, in the middle of family homestead land from more than 4 generations back. We have one daughter, one rescued Great Dane, and one cat.
