They Built A Paradise In The Desert

They built a paradise in the middle of the desert. 🌿
Around 600 BC, King Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon ordered the construction of something the ancient world had never seen — a towering series of terraced gardens, filled with exotic trees and cascading waterfalls, rising above the flat Mesopotamian plains like a green mountain in the sky.

Built for his homesick queen Amytis, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon became one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Greek historians wrote in awe of its beauty — lush canopies of trees, the scent of rare flowers drifting across the city, water continuously lifted from the Euphrates River to the very top.

But here's the mystery: no physical evidence of the Hanging Gardens has ever been found. No ruins. No foundations. Not even a mention in a single Babylonian clay tablet. Some historians now believe they may never have stood in Babylon at all.
Real or legend — the Hanging Gardens have captured the human imagination for over 2,000 years. And we're still searching for them.
