The story of the 1986 hit IF YOU LEAVE by OMD. In the mid 80s, Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark otherwise known as OMD were tapped to write a song for a John Hughes film called Pretty in Pink. John Hughes was always a champion of new wave and post punk he was right on the money as the soundtrack to Pretty in Pink, which would become the crown jewel of the many classic soundtracks from his films., OMD members Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphries tell the story of creating If You Leave for the film including commentary from Matty Healy from the 1975.
