Orphaned Elephant Elkerama's Rescue | Sheldrick Trust

On Elkarama Ranch, an elephant calf aged about 2 ½ years old had been observed on his own for weeks, the fate of his mother and herd a mystery. Being young he was extremely vulnerable to predators and a pride of 20 lions in the area posed a huge threat to this lonely, solitary, little elephant.

His plight was reported to the authorities and to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and a plan was made for his rescue.
