COP26: a pivotal moment to unite for a common goal
Since the late 1990s, governments have met annually to agree on global action to minimise the scale of future climate change and its impacts on our lives and the natural environment.
COP26 will be the latest in an almost three-decade series of annual meetings of the UN Conference of the Parties (COP), the decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
This year’s event will take place from 1 to 12 November, with the physical element at the Scottish Event Campus. COP26 is particularly important because it will be the first time that nations’ climate commitments will be put to the test.
The built environment plays a crucial role
The message from climate science is clear: we must act now to transform the systems that underpin our daily lives and economies.
The built environment plays a crucial role in minimising emissions and making our cities adaptable to the impacts of climate change that we are already experiencing. As responsible practitioners and inhabitants, we should and will lead the way.
Uniting Asia to combat climate change
As the sustainability consultant for COP26, Arup, in partnership with leader organisations and think tanks, is organising the Race to Zero webinar series building up to the global summit.
We brought together experts from various fields in China, Japan, the Philippines and Vietnam together looking at the global issue in local perspective and coming up with united actions to achieve our common goal.
