This Animated Film Lets Muslim Kids See Themselves as Heroes

“It’s so important that children have a better understanding of history, and especially Muslim children, that they feel themselves as part of the wider culture and that they see themselves as heroes.”

In this episode of ‘Mehdi Unfiltered,’ Mehdi Hasan sits down with the the filmmakers behind ’Time Hoppers: The Silk Road’ — an animated children’s film highlighting the contributions of Muslim cultural and scientific figures during the Golden Age of Islam.

Co-writer and director Flordeliza Dayrit and producer Michael Milo discuss their goal of showcasing the contribution made by Arabs and Muslims, while also highlighting how the future and the past are interconnected.

Time Hoppers: The Silk Road has a US nationwide theatrical release on February 7 & 8. Check your local cinema for times.
