Coronavirus: Sean Payton says he's been diagnosed with COVID-19

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton has been diagnosed with the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Payton told ESPN that he wanted to reveal his diagnosis to help other people recognize the severity of the virus and to heed all warnings and advisories from government and health officials. He said that he was fatigued but didn’t have a fever or a cough and had one of the more mild cases of the virus.

He said he was also making sure to practice good quarantine protocols while he was sick.

QB Carousel Spins: Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Teddy Bridgewater Find New Homes

I’ve been asked a bunch why the Colts opted to go with Philip Rivers, with Tom Brady sitting out there on the market. Here’s my feeling on it: GM Chris Ballard has been building for three years, two with Frank Reich as coach, and they’ve made a ton of progress. That progress took a big hit last summer when Andrew Luck retired. That didn’t change the fact that they’ve done a ton of good work in fixing the offensive line, and bringing young, athletic difference-makers to the defense. But what it does mean is they may need a year or two to sort their quarterback position out. So if you’re in that spot, do you blow the whole plan up for a year or two of Tom Brady? Or do you bring in a player, in Philip Rivers, that you have a ton of background with to try and keep the train on the tracks and buy time to find a long-term answer over the next few years. It’s not hard to understand why you’d choose the latter path, which is what the Colts are doing. (Though it’s fair to say it’ll be harder to find the long-term answer this year without a first-round pick, which is why Colts fans might want to bone up on Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields and the rest of the 2021 draft class.)

2020 NFL Free Agency Tracker: Arizona Cardinals signings, trades, rumors and more

Today is the day.

We know a ton about what is happening with free agency so far, but today things become official.

That is because at 1:00 p.m. Arizona time NFL Free Agency officially begins for the 2020 season.

The Arizona Cardinals have two big things lined up so far.

Of course they signed defensive tackle Jordan Phillips to what looks like a three-year $30 million deal.

Then there was that small deal for David Johnson for some unknown wide receiver named DeAndre Hopkins.

Your Brady versus Belichick arguments will never be useful here

You’ll never know the answer. Now that Tom Brady and the Patriots have divorced and true love is dead, every Sully and Brian with a Yosemite Sam tattoo is gonna use next season (if there is one) as a referendum on whether Bill Belichick made Tom Brady or the other way around. This is an ancient bar argument technique, even if you can’t go to a bar right now and are stuck holed up in your apartment with your Larry Bird fathead. And it’s one of those bar arguments designed specifically to have no provable verdict, so that you can argue about it until the sun dies.

How the Lakers and other NBA teams get tested for coronavirus so quickly

A handful of NBA teams, including the Lakers, have offered coronavirus testing for their players since Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive March 11, whether they have symptoms or not, providing them a service that isn’t available to the general public.

Bears' Trubisky vs. Foles QB Competition Likely to Leave Everyone Feeling Lost

Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky squared off against each other in the playoffs at the end of the 2018 season. You probably remember the game: The Eagles beat the Bears 16-15 thanks to the legendary, partially blocked Cody Parkey "double-doink" missed field goal.

As the final score indicates, this was no epic quarterback shootout. Trubisky threw for 303 yards and one touchdown. Foles, the guy who supposedly has playoff magic, went 25-of-40 for 266 yards, two touchdowns and two first-half interceptions. It was a battle between an inconsistent second-year quarterback and a solid backup, and that's precisely how it looked.
