Black Sabbath - Live at the Audimax, Berlin, West Germany (1970) (Source 2)

Black Sabbath
Audimax der Frier Universität
Berlin, West Germany

26th June 1970

Duration: 56m 33s

This is among the earliest recordings of Black Sabbath playing live. It's a rather excellent sounding audience recording, though not all the tracks sound good. This is the alternate, later version of the (mislabeled) "Live at Plumpton" bootleg, compiled in 2010. It has been combined with audio from another source to provide a more complete recording (hence the few poor quality tracks.) Like the other source, you can hear Ozzy singing some early versions of songs with alternate lyrics. The most notable of which is Walpurgis, the original version of War Pigs -- before it was adjusted to be an anti-war song. It is worth noting that this gig took place a few days after the Paranoid album was recorded -- so, by this point, the songs had indeed been updated to reflect the lyrics present on the album. However, it is possible Ozzy was having trouble remembering what those lyrics were, and he defaulted to these earlier versions in a pinch.

This is the later, complete recording of the gig, and unlike the other source, it has N.I.B. placed in the proper position. It has been distributed as the "Lost Berlin Tape" among collectors.
