4. Finding Pure Strategy Nash Equilibrium in Cournot Duopoly Game (Game Theory Playlist 3)

In this episode we study the famous Cournot Duopoly game. We show how to find pure strategy Nash equilibrium in simultaneous-move games with infinitely many actions and well defined and continuous best response functions.

Important Note for Navigating Lecture Videos: Watching lecture videos with a proper order is important for effective learning. This is true because the concepts in each video is built over the ones that are introduced in “previous” videos. For this reason, I strongly recommend you visit my website https://www.ozyurtselcuk.com/game-theory for a recommended course outline.

This recommended course outline offers you an ordered list of videos, which I follow in my game theory courses. Depending on your interests and objectives, you may prefer to skip some of the videos. For more user-friendly navigation I’ve tagged each video in this list as “beginner,” “intermediate,” or “advanced.”

If you have no strong technical background (say, for example, you are a professional who finished college some years ago or a high school student) and would like to get some intuition about strategic interactions, then watching the videos that are tagged “Beginner” will most likely serve your needs. If you want more thorough understanding of the concepts of game theory (say, for example, you are a second-year college student), then you should watch videos that are tagged “Beginner” and “Intermediate”. Finally, if you want some challenge or if you are a third/fourth-year college student, then you should watch all the videos on this list, including the ones that are tagged “Advanced.” Mathematics and logic review videos are particularly useful for those who take game theory for credit.

If you are a masters or Ph.D. student, then the videos on this list would be perfect resources for refreshing your knowledge or catching up with the rest of the class. We usually cover more detailed and advanced topics and examples in graduate level game theory courses, and more advanced lecture videos for graduate level courses will be coming up soon. Please be tuned!
