Woman Tortured At The Tower Of London - Anne Askew - Tudors

Today we visit the brutal and barbaric torture of Anne Askew. Today Anne Askew is seen as a martyr. She is even featured in the popular book Foxe's Book of Martyrs, and is seen as a heroine who died for her beliefs. In the Tudor times, religion was a huge part of society, and much religious change happened following Henry VIII's break from Rome marked with the beginning of the English Reformation. At the time many radical new ideas about religion came to the table, many of these resulting in the barbaric executions of innocent people, many like Anne Askew who would be burnt at the stake.

Edit: Apologies for saying 'Edward Bonner,' not 'Edmund Bonner.'
