Basement waterproofing: Step by Step Peel and Stick Membrane
This video goes through all the steps I took when waterproofing our foundation. This is my first time working with these type of products and I am happy with how it turned out. It was a lot more work than traditional waterproofing but I feel that it is worth the effort. I trust the peel and stick to be able to both span cracks in the concrete as well as self seal/gasket around fasteners. And it is doable to install by yourself.
Materials I used: (I purchased most of this stuff online)
Angle Grinder with a concrete grinding wheel.
CementALL grout to fill holes and fill the top of the footing.
Henry Aquatac Primer applied with a paint roller.
Henry Blueskin WP 200 peel and stick.
Henry 925 BES sealant and a putty knife to tool/trowel the beads flat.
Superseal Foundation waterproofing, Dimples in Drain Mat.
Superseal Fasteners and Membrane Cap.
Ramset Cobra gun with .27 cal rounds
1 1/2" and 2" concrete nails with washers.
15 Mil Xtreme Vapor Barrier and a couple rolls of their Seam Tape.
(I used some of the Aquatac primer all the way around the basement and crawlspace perimeter to get the seam tape to stick to the concrete stem walls.)
The vapor barrier under the slab and in the crawlspace are big factors in keeping moisture out of your basement as well. The Xtreme is super tough and will last many decades longer than cheap poly. It is expensive but it's cheaper than mold issues down the line.
Thanks for watching!
