How to Make Soil Blocks

This tutorial will show you our soil block ingredients, how we make the mix, and how we press the blocks.

The full soil block recipe is included below. If you are just getting started with soil blocking, I suggest following this recipe exactly for the best results. Then you will know how a good mix should behave before you start experimenting with any alternative ingredients.

We make three variations of the mix for different sized blocks, this is the recipe for the mix we use the most often.

30 cups peat moss
25 cups compost
20 cups perlite
3/4 cup organic fertilizer blend
1/2 cup rock dust (optional)
1/8 cup lime
20-30 cups of water
