Whether you plan to install a DC or AC refrigerator, your energy plan should account for all the demands of the system. So, in this video, I want to address the issue of inverter idle current draw...which you need to factor into your planning. Using an AC refrigerator is a very valid choice, but the idle current of the inverter (needed to power that fridge) can greatly increase the energy consumption over what you expected, so be sure to plan for it.

So, here's some math to help you calculate the actual energy needs of the refrigerator you install in your skoolie or coach or ambulance conversion.
