Haing Ngor, Orphans, Orphanages,Cambodia,Non-Profit,1a

One of the last interviews of Dr Ngor in Cambodia Dr Ngor tells of his life in that war torn country. An educated, professional man, Dr. Ngor personally experienced internment, forced labor and the ... death of his wife under Communistic rule. In spite of his tragedy and loss, he went on to re-build his nation, restoring Cambodian culture, supporting Orphanages, and prosthetic rehabilitation of young soldiers. The Movie, "The Killing Fields", 1984, reflected the terrifying reign of the Communist Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, from 1975-1979. After 4 years of forced labor he was well qualified to play the part of Dith Pran, the actual Cambodian Journalist. Dr. Haing Ngor not only acted the part in the movie, but also lived it himself, being a prisoner who, because he could not reveal his medical identity, suffered the death of his wife, in his arms, for lack of a spoonful of rice. Watch part of this story. Haing Ngor 1a.
