Transport your taste buds to the Philippines with our Garlic Fried Rice recipe. It's a beloved Filipino classic that you can make at home!
Ingredients:
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 large egg, beaten
4 cups cooked rice
1 cup sweet peas
½ cup finely diced carrots
1 1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp soy sauce
¼ tsp ground black pepper
1/8 cup crispy garlic
1 tbsp chopped spring onions
Directions:
1. In a wok over medium heat, add oil.
2. Add the beaten egg and cook for 2 minutes while stirring constantly.
3. Stir in the cooked rice and cook for 5 minutes on high heat while stirring constantly.
4. Add the sweet peas, carrots, salt, soy sauce, and ground black pepper, mix well and continue sauteing for another 5 minutes.
5. Add the crispy garlic and chopped spring onions; mix well and continue cooking for another 2 minutes on high.
6. Transfer to a serving plate and serve immediately.
Notes & Tips:
1. You can add other vegetables you like, such as celery, chopped mushrooms, red bell pepper, and a choice of protein for a one-punch meal.
2. It is better to use day-old rice rather than newly cooked rice as it has less moisture and will not turn mushy when it hits the pan.
