Surah At-Tariq (The Morning Star) – Surah No. 86 – Makki Surah – 17 Verses

By the sky and the night-comer (At-Tariq),
And what can make you know what the night-comer is?
It is the piercing star.
There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.
So let man observe from what he was created.
He was created from a fluid, ejected,
Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.
Indeed, Allah is Able to return him [to life].
The Day when secrets will be put on trial,
Then man will have no power or any helper.
By the sky which returns (rain),
And the earth which cracks open,
Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement,
And it is not amusement.
Indeed, they are planning a plan,
But I (Allah) am planning a plan.
So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.

Brief Description / Tafsir:

Verses 1–3: Allah swears by the sky and the night star, describing its brilliance and significance. The "Tariq" is a metaphor for guidance and the certainty of divine observation.

Verses 4–7: Every soul has a guardian (angel), and man should reflect on his own creation from a gushing fluid. This highlights both human vulnerability and the power of the Creator.

Verses 8–10: Allah is capable of resurrecting mankind. On the Day of Judgment, hidden intentions will be exposed, and no one will be able to help the wrongdoers.

Verses 11–14: The natural signs (rain from the sky, crops from the earth) are reminders of God's control. The Qur'an is not a joke — it is a serious, decisive revelation.

Verses 15–17: Though disbelievers plot against the truth, Allah also has a divine plan. They are given respite, but justice will come inevitably.
