What are RSUs? (restricted stock units)

Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) are a form of compensation where your employer provides you shares of the company at future points in time (according to a vesting schedule). RSUs differ from stock options in that with RSUs, the company buys shares for the employee, whereas with options, the employee must chose to buy shares.
