In this video, I pull out our Suburban SF-30F RV furnace for a look. It involves several screws and disconnection of the power and thermostat wiring. Also, the LP gas connection needs to be unhooked.
Disclaimer: Working with LP Gas and Electricity can be dangerous. I'm not a certified RV technician merely an RV owner. This video should not be taken as instructional. If you decide to work on your own RV furnace, do the research and be aware of all risks involved. I accept no liability, you have been warned. - Ray
With one screw the furnaces outer case slides off. I give everything a good vacuum and wipe down. Then inspect the wiring and electronics. I point out some of the functions of various devices and the overall workings.
I check for debris in the intake and exhaust ports and squirrel fan cages. I inspect the heat exchanger baffling looking for rust or corrosion that may turn into a leak.
Finally, I sew things up and reinstall. I reconnect the wires using crimp on butt connectors and check the LP gas with soapy water making sure there are no leaks.
