Greenfield Konkel Park | MMSD Green Luminary® Award

The City of Greenfield is helping manage water where it falls with its recent restoration project in Konkel Park. In total, the green infrastructure (GI) installed can manage over 1,000,000 gallons of stormwater each time it rains.

The Konkel Park restoration project includes over 4,000 trees, nearly 300,000 square feet of native plantings, and over 160,000 square feet of wetland.

Honey Creek, which flows through the park, has been returned to its more natural state, and the community can access new paths and a boardwalk.

The restoration project helps reduce the risk of flooding, protects water quality, and creates a great natural asset for the community.

A Green Luminary® helps protect our rivers and Lake Michigan by adopting practices that harvest rainfall for other uses or mimic nature by draining it into the ground to reduce water pollution. To learn more: https://www.mmsd.com/what-we-do/green-infrastructure/green-luminaries
