The Beatles - And I Love Her - Full Band Cover - Guitar Cover

And I Love Her was recorded from 25-27 February 1964. It was released as the fifth track of A Hard Day's Night on 10 July 1964, and was included in the movie of the same name. It was also released as a single in the US on 20 July 1964 with a B-side of If I Fell, and reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
There is an interesting early version of this song, with Ringo on drums and George on the 12 string Rickenbacker (along with some kind of organ?). This was included on the Anthology 1, and there is a video of them recording this version in the studio. http://sendvid.com/94ts8mlx I actually really like this version, especially with just an E major as the intro rather than the F#m E major in the final version; you get a feeling as though the bottom drops out on the F#m this way. I think that the key change up a half step is far more powerful in this version as well with the Rickenbacker. It is missing the bridge which John helped to add to the song later on.
This song is really Paul’s first ballad (a precursor to Yesterday a year later), and it’s also a sign of what is to come regarding instrumentation. The addition of bongos and claves is a nice touch and really makes it stand out on the album, and this varied percussion would be expanded upon a lot during the Help! sessions. (I’m really starting to think that Help! is the real studio wizardry album, being a year before Revolver with all of the layered instruments on it.)
It should also be noted that Paul always credits George with the main riff of the song, which certainly gels the composition together.
