External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar firmly stated that the India-Pakistan ceasefire was not negotiated by the U.S. or any third party, but directly between New Delhi and Islamabad. Responding to a question on Donald Trump’s involvement, Jaishankar clarified that “the US was in the US,” and it was the Pakistani army that contacted the Indian side to halt firing.

He emphasized, “If Pakistan wanted to stop fighting, they had to tell us directly.” This communication, he noted, came when Pakistan’s general called India’s general, confirming their intent to cease hostilities. Other countries may have expressed concern, but the ceasefire was bilateral.

In an interview with Dutch broadcaster NOS, Jaishankar reiterated that Pakistan is deeply involved in terrorism against India. Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, he said it triggered the recent hostilities.

He criticized Pakistan’s denial, asserting that UN-listed terrorists operate openly in Pakistani cities. “Their addresses are known, their activities are known,” he said.
