DAVINCI RESOLVE STUDIO 16 Install Tutorial | Packaging review | Why I upgraded | Benchmark

I upgraded from the free version of Davinci Resolve to Davinci Resolve Studio 16. I ordered it online and received the product code through snail mail

The instructions under the SD card advises you to go and download the latest version online. I'll leave the download link in the description below.

I was waiting for the install file to download, i decided to look up to see if I had to uninstall the free version of resolve before installing the Studio 16 version.

I remember reading in a reddit blackmagic forum you have to uninstall the free version. I wanted to double check. I looked it up on google.

Google brought me to this blackmagic forum where someone else had the same question I did. There was conflicting messages as I was going through the response.

A blackmagic mod indicated you didn't have to uninstall the free version. However, in the official black magic FAQ, it tells you to uninstall it.

I decided to follow the official blackmagic FAQ and uninstall Resolve Free version.

I was anxious to see if Resolve Studio was going to speed up my renders. I did a 4K 4 minute video of a headphone stand.

Free version rendered in 3:51 and Studio version did it in 2:56 which is almost a minute faster.
