Enya is presented with a platinum disc for sales of the album ‘Watermark’.

From the Gaeltacht of Gaoth Dobhair in County Donegal, Enya (Eithne Ní Bhraonáin) is the sibling of internationally renowned musicians Moya Brennan (Máire Ní Bhraonáin) and members of the group Clannad.

Her musician parents Leo and Máire (Baba) are in ‘The Late Late Show’ audience. They are immensely proud of their daughter’s success.

The British and Irish chart topping single ‘Orinoco Flow’ is taken from Enya’s debut album ‘Watermark’. Gay Byrne has the pleasure of presenting Enya with an official platinum disc

"For sales in Ireland exceeding 20,000 units of the album ‘Watermark’".

Enya hopes ‘Watermark’ will achieve the same level of success in the United Kingdom. She is also making her mark in Europe and has recently been to Norway and the Netherlands and will be visiting Belgium shortly.

"Norway was very cold, but it was wonderful, I was very busy there for two days".

Enya will travel to America when ‘Watermark’ is released in January 1989. In the meantime she will be meeting Irish fans in person at Golden Discs in Dublin’s Stephen’s Green on 12 November 1988.

This episode of ‘The Late Late Show’ was broadcast on 11 November 1988. The presenter is Gay Byrne.
