Disc read error. Sony Playstation 2 (PS2): Probably dying laser.

I got this Playstation used from my brother in law. I'm cheap as you know, and I now use this as my main dvd player downstairs. Actually I haven't used it yet. So I decided to test it this morning with my wife's (*cough,.. not mine) Disney Enchanted dvd.

So the dvd trys to load... saying "Reading Disc" but after about half a minute it eventually stops and says "Disc Read Error"

What I've tried:
1) Cleaning the DVD
2) Turning off the PS2 and turning it back on.
3) Blowing into the PS2.

What I haven't tried:
1) Using a laser cleaner solution (ie rubbing alcohol) and cleaning the laser.
2) changing the laser (which isn't worth it since I can by a wifi blu ray player used for about $30 off of cowboom)
