So how about we pretend this: General Grievous is rebuilt and reprogrammed and he thinks he's a Jedi named Cal Kestis. Now he returns to Dathomir, the very place he helped destroy. Maybe Merrin was too young to remember what Grievous looked like? I don't know, I know it doesn't makes sense, but it's fun to make up some stories to make stuff fit.
