How to Brew Gose Beer - Melon, Pepper and Lime Homebrew

In this brewing video, a professional chef shows you how to make a Gose, or sour German wheat beer, with melon, pepper, and lime at home. This is a weird beer with nontraditional ingredients, but we thought melon, pepper, and lime would pair well with traditional Gose ingredients like salt and coriander. If you've ever had a Gose, you know they're a refreshing summer beer that goes well with anything you decide to grill, smoke, or steam. We recommend pairing this with steamed crab, grilled sauerkraut, or barbecued mahi mahi. Drinking a Gose is also a good way to take a break from heavy IPAs or Pale Ales. After we mash and boil our wort, we show you how to lower the PH of wort in order to make a sour beer. We do this by adding lactic acid and measuring PH with an electronic meter. We also add a Goodbelly probiotic fruit juice drink to our wort in order to add lactobacillus. Lactobacillus is a good bacteria that gives beer a signature sour flavor profile. This is also a longer brew day than normal, after adding lactobacillus, we let our wort rest for 24 hours to allow it to sour.
