How do you horizontally compress or stretch a trig function? #maths #trigonometry #compress
We can horizontally compress or stretch the graph of a trig function by multiplying the independent variable by a constant. A constant greater than 1 compresses the graph while a constant less than 1 will stretch the graph.
That is, compared with the graph of sin(x), the graph of sin(bx) will appear as if it has been compressed if b is more than one and stretched longer if b is less than 1.
