Make life easier learning how to cut cardstock for cards! One thing I am often asked is "how do I know what size to cut my cardstock layers?" Hopefully today's post and video will help make it super easy for you. Figuring out how to cut cardstock is easy with my DIY templates. Make Life Easier Learning How to Cut Cardstock for Card BasesThe first thing you cut when making a card is the "card base." There are 2 options for a "regular" sized card. Begin with a piece of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock and cut it in either direction. Both ways give you the same sized "card front," it just opens differently.
Make Life Easier Learning How to Cut Cardstock for Template SizesTo make your own templates, just grab a bunch of scraps of cardstock. I recommend making them all different colors so so that when you playing around with them you can see the different sized layers.
Here are the sizes I cut mine:4 1/2" x 3 1/4"4 5/8" x 3 3/8"4 3/4" x 3 1/2"4 7/8" x 3 5/8"5" x 3 3/4"5 1/8" x 3 7/8"5 1/4" x 4"5 1/2" x 4 1/4" (card front size)I hope you found today's post helpful.
