Drone video shows entire Enid neighborhoods flattened. Rescuers are digging with bare hands for survivors tonight as a monster EF4 with 170 mph winds cuts a 9-mile scar through town.

The violent tornado slammed Enid late Thursday, destroying dozens of homes and injuring at least 10 people. KFOR’s live feed captured the stovepipe twister bearing down on Vance Air Force Base. “There’s a house right there. This is as bad as it can get,” the anchor said. Twin tornadoes spun near Braymond, Oklahoma, close to the Kansas border.

By the numbers: NOAA data shows only 0.5% of US tornadoes reach EF4 or EF5. Oklahoma has seen 122 EF4+ tornadoes since 1950, second only to Texas. The US averages 1,200 tornadoes yearly, but 19 hit in the last 24 hours alone. Six struck Oklahoma Thursday night.
