Zelenskiy Fears Israel-Hamas War May Overshadow Conflict in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday that the war with Russia was in a new stage, with winter expected to complicate fighting after a summer counteroffensive that failed to produce desired results due to enduring shortages of weapons and ground forces. Despite setbacks, however, he said Ukraine wouldn't give up.

Zelenskyy also said he feared the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza threatened to overshadow the conflict in Ukraine, with competing political agendas and limited resources reducing military aid, a development that would profoundly impede his country’s ability to sustain the confrontation with Russia.

His concerns were amplified by the political tumult that inevitably arises during a U.S. election year and its implications for continued aid to his country.
