Igor Stravinsky - 'Double Canon: Raoul Dufy in Memoriam' (on EWIs)

Serialism shows up frequently in Stravinsky's late works. This haunting canon is a textbook presentation of a 12-tone-row with typical serialist developments; the initial row is presented in multiple retrograde and inverted retrograde transpositions. The single canon becomes a double canon from the entry of a retrograde transformation of the initial 12-tone row.

Originally written for string quartet in 1959, I have recorded it here using presets 15 and 21 of the inbuilt sounds of the Akai EWI 4000s.
