Is EC (the morning after pill/Plan B) the same as abortion pills? No… they are not.

Here’s your cheat sheet:

1. The morning-after pill is a form of emergency contraception taken after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy from starting. It works by stopping the ovaries from releasing an egg.

2. Abortion pills, on the other hand, are used to end a pregnancy after it has already begun.

These two are often confused — but they’re not the same. Please consult your doctor or a trusted adult if you are in need of medication and need to decide which path is right for you.
