Torch-Fired Gold! An easy and inexpensive way to apply REAL gold to base metals and sterling!

This is a jewelry-making video about applying gold to base metals. This video is the Long version that presents the development of the process and my experiments. See the Short version for just the technique instructions. This video contains much more information and discussion.

In the following video, I'll show you how to apply 22 and 24 karat, REAL gold to copper, brass, bronze, and sterling silver sheet metal and wire. I figured this technique out while following Christopher Darway's instructions from his article, "Take a Painterly Approach to Mixing Metals", in Art Jewelry Magazine, March 2016. Through experimentation and testing, I developed this super easy method that doesn't require soot or additional charcoal. Enjoy the benefits of gold without the expense and the hassle of Keum-boo, plating, electroplating, gilding or buying pricey gold sheet metal.

Use with enameling, cast pieces, making bi-metal, soldered pieces and those with mechanical connections, etc.
