Severe floods have devastated Bahía Blanca, Argentina, resulting in significant casualties and widespread destruction. As of March 10, 2025, at least 16 people have lost their lives, with over 100 individuals, including two young children aged one and three, reported missing. The torrential rains, which began on Friday, led to unprecedented flooding, submerging homes, hospitals, and other essential facilities. Power outages have affected large portions of the city, and emergency services continue to search for the missing. In response to this tragedy, President Javier Milei has declared three days of national mourning, and the government has allocated $10 million in emergency aid for reconstruction efforts. The city of Bahía Blanca, with a population of approximately 350,000, is located 600 kilometers southwest of Buenos Aires. The recent deluge, delivering over 400 millimeters of rainfall in just eight hours, has been described as an unprecedented event for the region.
