The Waltz in A flat major offered to Maria Wodzińska has been called 'Les adieux'. 'On Saturday, when you left us,' wrote Maria a few days after their parting, 'we were all walking around sad, our eyes filled with tears. You were the subject of all our conversations. That Waltz -- the last thing we received and heard you play -- has brought us closer together. We found pleasure -- they in the listening and I in the playing, as it reminded us of our brother [Chopin]'.
