500 lbs Dead Lift into sub 5 minute mile
It was so special to make my first attempt at the 500lb deadlift straight into a sub 5 minute mile challenge on the first track I ever ran a mile for time on at Big Bear Middle School when I was in 7th grade in 1995. This track is where my running journey began, so it was incredibly special to return to it after all the years as a much different kind of athlete. The memories of all the time-trials, my first mile race (also in 7th grade) were flooding threw my mind as I went after this one. I’m stoked to share this rare glimpse of an important piece of me with you guys. Many thanks to Chad Hall for capturing and editing this and to my family for coming out and cheering me on. It was also great to have Bob Babbitt there to share in, and capture the moment, as Bob has always been my favorite interviewer over the years. Such a legend in the endurance world! And thanks to Michael Miraglia for the inspiration and creativity of this challenge. Michael is the only human that I am aware of to accomplish this rare feat.
